Brno, July 22 (BD) – “This time, we are going to do it differently,” remarked once the Deputy Mayors of the City Brno, Jaroslav Kacer about the future of Brno. He referred to the BRNO 2050, finally available in English, too. The initiative creates a space for ALL citizens of Brno, whether expats or “natives” to raise their voice and take part in the decision-making process.

With one click or your comment, you can contribute to formation of key values that will consequently outline the city’s development. Spare a few minutes, like, or comment! The project and the website empowers all citizens to contribute to a common goal – to live to the fullest in Brno.

The website is an online parallel to the actual strategy which will shape Brno. In recent months experts and public have pinpointed several key values in three fields – Quality of Life, Governance, Resources. In each section, you will find a brief summary of particular value and you can grant your like to it or leave a comment. Values chosen by citizens will be prioritized by experts and authorities in the final blueprint the new Strategic Plan, “Brno 2050”, which will be adopted for the period 2019-2050.

What Brno do we want to live in?

Each and every listed value on BRNO 2050  has its guarantor, description and particular contribution to the city. Especially for expats, there is the value Cosmopolitan city supervised by Don Sparling from Brno Expat Center. “The iron law of health for any ecosystem is its diversity. The diversity of Brno will bring with it a greater ability to combine the old and new in an innovative way and respond to new challenges. The more open the city is to new people and new ideas, the greater is its creative dynamism,” presents Sparling his value. The sub-goals besides brain- and culture gains are enhanced bilingual education, participation of foreigners in municipality and medium-sized EU and UN institutions to reside in Brno.

Wander through the website and join the public debate. You can also visit Exhibition #brno2050 until the last day of July in UrbanCentrum at Mečová 5, Stará radnice, Brno.
