Brno, Mar 26 (BD) – An annual spring cleaning organized in numerous places in the Czech Republic called “Ukliďme svět, ukliďme Česko” (“Let’s Clean Up The World, Let’s Clean Up Czechia”) will take place in about two weeks.

The cleaning campaign “Let’s Clean Up Czechia” will bring Brno’s citizens together to work for a common goal – to make the city cleaner. “Its purpose is to clean up the illegal ‘black dumps’ and rubbish in the streets,” the organizers write on the official website of the project.

The campaign brings together citizens, local companies, municipalities, various associations, and schools.

In previous years, the waste management company SAKO, in cooperation with the City of Brno, removed prepared waste bags in the city for free and, in addition, provided gloves and bags for cleaning, its director Jiří Kratochvil explained in the official press release.

Volunteers can support the project by becoming an organizer of a local cleaning event or simply coming out to clean.

“At the heart of this event are the local volunteers. These are people who take responsibility and arrange cleaning from start to finish at a location of their choosing,” the official website explains.

People can already see a list of sites that will be cleaned and suggest places that need cleaning on the project website uklidmecesko.cz.

People can also find an interactive map with proposed sites of cleaning at http://www.uklidmecesko.cz/map/. The website is in Czech but has an automatically translated English version. You can register as a volunteer here.
