21st edition of IGNIS BRUNENSIS fireworks competition to celebrate birth of Czechoslovakia

Brno, May 30 (BD) – This year’s edition will feature a total of five shows – four fireworks displays over Brno Lake and the final “epilogue” in the centre of Brno above Špilberk Castle.

Teams from Poland, Romania and France will compete in the main competition. This year, the Czech presence in IGNIS BRUNENSIS is non-competitive. The Czech participants will take care of the opening event over Brno Lake and the “epilogue” above Špilberk Castle.

All the fireworks shows will begin at 10:30pm. Those at Brno Lake will last at least 17 minutes, while the epilogue performance is expected to take between 12 and 13 minutes.

Saturday 16/6, 22:30 – epilogue: Czech Republic: IGNIS BRUNENSIS TEAM

This year’s festival celebrates the one hundredth anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia and the ninetieth anniversary of the Brno Exhibition Centre, as well as some other important anniversaries.

Both the domestic and foreign fireworks teams have also been given the task of including a mandatory two-minute musical passage that incorporates the Czechoslovak theme in the overall design and synchronised musical accompaniment of their fireworks performances at Brno Lake.

The original musical accompaniments to the fireworks will be broadcast by “Rádio Krokodýl“, 103 FM; the music for the final “epilogue” fireworks show will also be broadcast by “Český rozhlas Brno”, 106.5 FM.
