For those who lived through the ’90s or fancy the retro vibe, the time has come! The opening party of the visual art exhibition “Tribes of ’90s” starts tomorrow at 2:30 PM in Husova Street. The ’90s feel will be enhanced by concerts and DJs’ performance. You can dance to the sound of  DJ Richie and Amma.

The exhibition “Tribes of ’90s” is a loose continuation of a book with the same title released in 2016. More then 800 pages reflect the phenomenon of alternative cultures and subcultures of the period in the Czech Republic. “Tribes of ’90s” completes the trilogy and fills the gap in the timeline between “Tribes 0” (about ’70s) and “Tribes” (the present).

A part of the exhibition is a pink tank parked in front of the Red Church since this Thursday. The Czech artist, often called enfant terrible of Czech visual art scene, David Cerny, was only 23 when he covered the military tank in pink paint making it look like piece of candy in 1991. The tank is one of the symbols of the era in the Czech Republic.

Good news for the parents; the organizers prepared a program for children from 2:30 to 4:30. In an improvised “beauty salon”, the kids can try on make up in ’90s style or create their own graffiti art.

Husova street will stay closed for traffic for the time of the event.

When: Saturday from 2:30 PM to 10 PM
Where: Museum of Applied Arts, Husova 14, Brno

Admission to the concerts is free, the entrance to the exhibition 50 CZK.
