Brno, May 25 (BD) – Did you know that shopping mall Alfa Passage opened for the first time in 1932? Today the famous building is turning 80 years and will take all of its visitors back in time to the days when it was first introduced to Brno’s public.
Alfa building with unique interior has 8 floors and soon after its opening became a hub for shopping and entertainment of modern Brno. Alfa Passage was built by architect František Hrdina and is considered one of the most important monuments of modern architecture in the city. Nowadays, the building is a home to many stores, bars, and private tenants.
For the 80th anniversary of the building, Alfa hosts a big theme festival. To get into the mood of the roaring 20’s and swinging 30’s, organizers prepared screenings of films from the era and demonstrations of historic dances. Fashion lovers will be definitely pleased with a vintage fashion show. The catwalk will feature costumes, swimwear, and undergarments of the era.
Gypsy swing and jazz inspired by the 30’s and 40’s will tune up the atmosphere in the evening. Bang Jet Django promises a vivid show that will call all guests to dance and enjoy Czech, French, and American swing. Later, the music theme will bring the visitors to another era. Vojtěch Dyk and band B-Side Band will play their music inspired by 60’s.
