We feel that there’s something very satisfying about ending a day by sitting outside with a chilled drink and watching the sun beginning to sink. Let’s check the urban places in Brno that have an outside area where you can sit and enjoy summer days and nights with a cool drink in your hand.
The first place that crosses our mind is popular “Výčep Na Stojáka” offering Czech beer from microbreweries and traditional dishes and snacks that go well with the beer. As the name suggests, you enjoy your beer while standing either inside the pub or at the square behind Saint Jacob’s Church.
Jakubské Náměstí or “Jakubák” with “Na Stojáka” and many other pubs is probably the best urban spot to hang out at on warm summer evenings. The beer is good, people are chatty, and the energetic spirit of the place makes every night there an improvised street party. Some nights, you get to enjoy free acoustic sessions performed by random local artists. Your chair there is a sidewalk but that doesn’t stop people to stay urban-night classy.
When the evening gets longer, you can retreat to fancier “Mandarin” club or little rusty and by Brno’s night hawks beloved “Poslední leč” – a pub with jukebox that will play your favorite old-school hits. Both places are right at Jakubské Náměstí.
Do you love long chats and deep conversations with your friends? Walk up to Kapucínské Náměstí. At the side of the small paved road, you can find “Café Pilate” and “Café Tungsram”. St. Peter and Paul’s Cathedral is poking up right in the middle of the buildings introducing a beautiful panorama. The narrow street is quiet and the atmosphere is pleasantly calm leaving you enough space to contemplate.
Both cafes offer outdoor tables. If you’re not lucky to get a place, though, it’s no big deal…grab your drink and walk a few meters. There is small staircase leading to the Moravian Museum courtyard where you can dwell. Both places close at 10 PM but we noticed it’s no problem to sit there and enjoy your beer later…just nicely ask the owners.
If you prefer more natural settings and self-catering, you can choose to head to one of many Brno’s parks. They stay open throughout the night and locals, especially the young ones, love to gather there.
