Spring season is a time of energy, colors, and new life. Shed your winter coat and get started working through the list of fun activities to fully enjoy the spring time in Brno and its vicinity.

Ride a bike.

If you fancy a relaxing ride with your kids or friends, plan a cycling trip from Brno Obřany in direction of Bílovice (and beyond, towards Blansko). From Obřany to Bílovice, there is a newly built 12 km bike path along the river Svitava with a smooth surface, beautiful surrounding, and numerous stops with food and drinks. See the route on the map here.

Have a picnic in the park.

The best way to enjoy the spring weather is with friends. Brno’s greens are great for picnicking with family or friends. You can chose from plenty – Lužánky in the center, the park under Špilberk castle, or popular Kraví Hora park where you can use a public barbecue grill free of charge.

Tip for BBQ lovers: you need to book the barbecue spot ahead. More info and contact here.

Green thumbs up! Plant something.

An association U Křížku placed a few flower pots near railings of the tram stop Antonínská near the park Lužánky as a part of their art performance and festival last year. The locals loved the idea and decided to pamper the flowers. You can share products of your work with others and help to make the city prettier.

Watch a softball game.

Kraví Hora is a home to a local softball and baseball club Technika Brno. There is a match almost every weekend in May. Check the calendar and come to support the team! Calendar here.

See the almond orchards.

The almond orchard, one of the largest in central Europe, is located near Hustopeče, approximately 25 km from Brno. 530 almond trees are in full blossom in mid April, but the walk is worthwhile later too. The city has to offer beautiful nature, historical sightseeing, and on rainy days possibly tasting of local wines or “mandlovice” – the almond brandy – in numerous picturesque and original wine cellars.

Jog outside.

Jogging is getting highly popular in Brno, especially among young people and students. One of the favorite routes for jogging or hiking for Brno locals is Wilsonovy Sady or Mariánske Údolí.

Watch animals at Brno ZOO.

Over 300 species of animals, modern exhibitions, and beautiful surroundings make the Brno ZOO an all-time favorite of many families with kids. The ZOO is open 365 days a year and is a great source of fun and education even on rainy days. From April to September, the ZOO is open from Monday to Sunday (9 am – 5 pm). The entrance fee for adults is 120 CZK, for kids 90 CZK, but you can buy a special family ticket or even season ticket. Prices are here.

Special tip for animal fans: Before going to the ZOO, check the official website. You can find there animals feeding schedule .
