Disk sport can be traced back in centuries. The ancient sculptures of Greek athletes in an elegant stance bound to throw flat, circular shaped object. Frisbee has a few similarities to the Olympic Discus throwing; the latter is about 2 kilos in weight and should be thrown with a certain technique.

The name of this simple, plastic toy came from an American baking company called Frisbie (1871-1958). The company was located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Their main product was a cooked pie wrapped in a tin foil. Soon, the students of New England discovered that the tin trays from the pies can be tossed to great distances with little effort, providing a great recreational activity.

The modern Frisbee design can be traced to Ed Headrick’s, the inventor in the company Wham-O, the patent that was filed on Nov 1, 1965. Today, Mattel, Inc. is holding the patent.

In-Life, a non-profit organization, organizes a Frisbee night out in Brno. Come and relax from the mundane routine, chat with people, and throw glowing Frisbees. LED Frisbees and joyful mood are provided!
