Today, at Moravské Náměstí at 3 o’clock in the afternoon there will be a huge banner to sign in support of Brno becoming a member of UNESCO Creative City Network (UCCN). Having held various festivals and concerts, building a new concert hall, Janáčkovo kulturní centrum, Brno activists prepared a public petition for the city to become the Creative City of Music.

UCCN aims to strengthen the cooperation between the member states that recognize culture as a strategic factor for sustainable development of the country. The membership allows sharing experiences, co-developing of projects, as well as partnerships in research and overall cultural enhancement of the city.

Aside from the actual signing the banner-petition, there will be a music program today. Magdaléna Kožená is going to perform along with the children from the choir. Signing this banner is the first step towards the acceptance of the city in the network. The body responsible for the application to UNESCO is the Municipality of Brno. If you are concerned about your city, come to sign the banner today and show that the people of Brno want to be acknowledged as friends of culture and music.

When: 3 PM – 6 PM
