The Creepshow, a psychobilly band from Canada, is going to be in Brno this Wednesday as a part of their 2017 tour. The admission fee is only 150CZK! The band has four long plays released that make up the basis of their live performance. The songs of Creepshow are not about friendship and love but about horror stories.
Naturally, the genre is a combination of many styles. The word “psychobilly” is a portmanteau, composed of two or more words with the second word being “hillbilly”. Psychobilly is a mixed genre of pop, punk rock, rockabilly, and rhythm and blues. This mix creates an upright beat with powerful vocals. The band incorporates a vocalist, two guitars, a double bass and keys. A non-standard formation allows for that funky, rock and roll tune one could hear in Elvis’ songs if he played hard rock.
