Have you ever wondered what it is to live with a bear as a pet, breakfast with moonshine and have balalaika as a trusty sidekick? Velvet Comedy is happy to tell you stories of fiction and reality about Mother Russia in a humorous format.
The show, From Russia with Laugh, brought by English Moscow Comedy is going to tackle Russian stereotypes and facts. Are there many bears around? If you live in the city, probably not so many; yet who knows what one can find in the wilderness. Are there indeed so many beautiful women one can lose count? Do Russians party like Robbie Williams sings in his song? Why is there Russian Winnie the Pooh cartoon?
The presenters are going to share their experience of living in Moscow – one of the biggest cities in the world. They will jest on how there is a fine edge in-between the reality and fairytale about the communist, patriarchal, packed-with-nukes country.
The English stand-up features 5 young comedians. Two from the country in the subject, one American, one Croatian, and their fellow from India. The comics, through humor, are going to share their experience as foreigners. Even the two Russians are going to tell about the clash of cultures in the capital, and how they felt like “Englishmen in New York” in Moscow.
