If you’re like us, you’re always searching for fun activities for your family. Bring your kids to Brno ZOO next weekend (June 24), and spend a great day with other like-minded expat families and lovely, furry creatures.
Brno Expat Centre and International School of Brno organize this event for foreign families to get acquainted with each other and enjoy a delightful Saturday morning. “Having more and more expat families in Brno, we are trying to connect with them, showing that we know and we care about them”, says Katka Báňová from Brno Expat Center, the event organizer.
The ZOO staff will guide the tour for the families and introduce volunteering possibilities at the ZOO and a concept of animal adoption. On their website, you may choose to adopt a many animals from cute, little pig-nosed turtle to a cockatoo. In total, Brno ZOO keeps incredible 1407 animals of 274 species.
After the tour, the ISB will entertain the children with games while parents can get to know more about the school and enrollment possibilities, or simply roam the ZOO and chat. The gardens are full of places for relax with refreshments.
BEC has a history of organizing similar events ranging from business seminars to kids’ game events. Each event is different; the BEC is trying to show foreign families a variety of places to have a good time at in Brno. How many families will attend the event? “Families with children are quite an unpredictable group so you never know; it always depends on the weather and a million other things… But we’re of course hoping for a big turnout,” smiles Katka from BEC when she shares her experience with family events organizing.
If you have already made other plans for Saturday (June 24), don’t worry “Our plan is to have two family-oriented events per year, the next one could be sometime towards the end of the year,” informs Katka.
The admission to the event is free, although you will have to pay the regular entrance fee to the ZOO. The ZOO offers advantageous family passes. The prices can be found here.
