The competition of 20th Starobrno Ignis Brunensis finished with the Spanish team Pirotecnia Ricardo Caballer winning the main prize of the Festival as decided by the jury. All of the five shows were breathtaking and the audience cheered loudly for every single team throughout the festival.
The Spanish team won Award of Mayor of Brno for the best show, Best Design Award, and Best Scenography Award by Czech Television for its show called “Magical Dreams”. The Swiss-Chinese team Sugyp & Jin Yi Fireworks won the Best Music Award by Czech Radio.
It is reported that the fifth day of the festival, 170,000 spectators watched the fireworks of the winning team. All the shows together attracted incredible 810,000 people this year. “The words ‘magnificent show’ perfectly capture the festival. In 20 years of its existence, the festival has become one of the largest events of its kind in Europe,” said Brno Councilor Pavel Staněk.
The Audience Award will be the last one to be decided. The winning team will be chosen solely by public in online and physical voting starting after the last show on June 24, 2017. The next twenty-first edition of Ignis Brunensis will take place from May 26 to June 24, 2018. “The theme of the next year’s show will be 100th anniversary of foundation of Czechoslovakia and 90th anniversary of Brno Exhibition Center,” said the main organizer of the festival Jiří Morávek from the company SNIP & CO.
