Brno, June 27 (BD) – Summer, Swing & Cinema – Tugendhat Villa opens its doors to amateur swing dancers this Friday at 6 pm.
The event starts with a swing dance lecture for beginners with Swing Wings Brno. When you master the steps, you can dance to live music of The Four Way. Guests will also have an opportunity to buy refreshments.
At 21:30, there will be a screening of a film about Edith Piaf – a French cabaret singer and songwriter who became one of the French national treasures. The film, La Vie en rose (Life in Pink) received an academy award for the Best Actress (Marion Cotillard).
Swing dancing is a group of dances originating in Harlem, New York with Afro-American Roots. The feeling of the dance is “swinging” – hence the name. The new dance developed as a swinging style of jazz music from the 1920s to the late 1940s. One of the swing dance variations Charleston was popular in the 20s and 30s making appearance in many Hollywood movies. The most known swing dance is lindy hop and it’s danced today around the whole world.
Places for the event are limited (max. 150 visitors). So hurry up and book a ticket!
