Brno, July 2 (BD) – At the end of this year, tram number four will have to change its route. Údolní street will undergo major repairs for more than a year starting at the end of 2017. The construction is estimated to cost almost a quarter of a billion Czech crowns. The municipality announced a tender for the construction on Tuesday, hoping that the cost will be reduced.
Deputy Mayor of Investments announced that the winning company will sign the contract with the Municipality this fall and the work will begin by the end of the year. The reconstruction is estimated to take fourteen months.
The repairs will include replacement of water and sewer pipes. Brno Public Transport Company (DPMB) will also take part in the repairs by repairing tram tracks and the overhead lines. The cost is estimated to 96 million crowns.
“The drivers can use alternative route via Tvrdého street. The inconvenience is unavoidable,” points out Chairman of Car Association Jan Mandát.
The street is expected to be revamped and offer proper car parking space which has posed a problem in the area; the cars have been parking even on the grass. The citizens can look forward to enjoying more green.
A plan of alternative routes for drivers have not been announced yet, neither the replacement for the trams.
