07/21 – 07/23 Do You Know Your Peas? Mendel Does

From July 21 to July 23, there will be a festival dedicated to one of the most famous personalities born in Brno – Gregor Mendel who is known for his breakthrough crossbreeding experiments on peas in the field of genetics. To celebrate his 195 birthday Mendel Museum of the Masaryk University organizes an array of events to commemorate the “father of the modern genetics” titled “Mendel Knows”.

On July 21, there will be a series of lectures at Mendel Museum starting at 3 PM. The talks will cover the life of the curious friar, application of his knowledge in the modern medicine, as well as the meteorology research, and tools for genetic research.

On Saturday July 22, there will be fun activities for children at the Augustinian Abbey, where Mendel began his training as a priest. The little curious visitors will have fun at the Bioskop laboratory, will conduct experiments with the science center VIDA!, and will have the chance to watch theatrical performances.

On the evening of the same day, in the Garden of Mendel Museum there will be a musical performance by Dextreat, Roman Dragoun and Show music Boys. The evening will be drawn to an end with the concert of popular band TATA BOJS.
