Brno, July 11 (BD) – The pink tank in front of the Red Church will remain there until September. The tank was scheduled to return to its original home the Museum of Decorative Arts last Tuesday, but on request of the Moravian Gallery the tank will stay in the center of Brno for two more months.

The pink tank is a symbol of the 90’s and was brought to Brno under the terms of “KMENY 90”exhibition. The artifact has been a center of attention and mixed opinions. For example, the staff of the National Heritage Institute considered the location of the tanks not dignified, stating that another location with less exposure would be a better choice.

The head of the National Heritage Institute Zdeněk Vácha, later announced that they agree with the decision of Brno Municipality placing the monument at its current spot as it is temporary and it does not cause damage to the environment or urban conservation.

The pink tank was created in 1991 by the artist David Černý to celebrate the Soviet troops’ withdrawal from the country.
