Brno, July 19 (BD) – The not so bustling Turany airport is seeing a huge crowd arriving and departing now in summer. During the summer season, 15 planes per day depart from the airport compared to the rest of the year when only two flights depart daily.

So far, 90,000 passengers have used Brno’s airport for their flights this summer season. Tuřany airport usually serves 15,000 per month during the rest of the year. Most of the flights head to summer destinations like Greece, Bulgaria, or Turkey. The three aircraft travel services located at the airport noticed 20% increase in traffic year-on-year.

“Tuřany airport is a typical seasonal airport,” explained Radek Lang, the Head of the Transport Operation of the airport to Ceska Televize. Flights should dispatch and arrive throughout the day and night. The onslaught of passengers has pressed for hiring 35 new temporary employees to help with cleaning, security controls and processing of the passengers at the airport.

For those interested to work as temporary workers at the airport a spokeswoman Kateřina Pichalová stated that “due to the regulation requiring a background check by Civil Aviation Authority in Prague, all interested in the temporary positions should apply two months before the season starts and must show a valid criminal record and medical certificate.”

At Tuřany airport, passengers can use of the regular lines to Munich, London and Eindhoven. A total of 417,725 passengers used the airport in 2016, 10% less than the previous year. The Airport management hopes for higher numbers this year.
