Brno, July 21 (BD) – Uber was banned in Brno this April after the South Moravian regional court decided that the drivers do not fit local legal requirements for a taxi service. In the beginning of this month the Supreme Court of Olomouc lifted the ban, saying that there are no sufficient reasons for the prohibition.
After the lift of the injunction in July, Uber case ended at the same lower court in Brno.
This Wednesday, the South Moravian regional court has reinstated the ban of Uber in Brno.
The company faces a strong criticism from the taxi companies and municipalities across Europe. They claim that Uber does not meet the local licensing regulations, which in turn creates unfair competition, as the cab drivers are not able to compete with Uber drivers.
The Brno court issued a new ban on July 19 and Uber has 15 days to appeal.
