Brno, July 23 (BD) – In Brno, passengers are allowed to transport their bikes in the inner city zones 100 and 101 on all the lines from 1 to 99, trains, and special bicycle buses.

The bikes can be loaded on any vehicle. It is important to go to the special, lower section of the tram or to the rear, not to block off the way for the passengers.

Bicycle buses in Brno

In April 2017, two new bus lines # 55 and # 57 that have special bicycle carriers on the back to which you may strap on your bicycle started operating in the city of Brno.

  • Bus 55: Židenice, nádraží, Špačkova, Novolíšeňská, Zetor, Jírova and Mariánské údolí
  • Bus 57: Tomkovo náměstí, Halasovo náměstí, Haškova, Klarisky and Útěchov

You can transport up to 5 bikes. The bicycle buses operate on weekends from April to September.

Bicycle buses are ideal if you are thinking of having a bike ride outside the city center, too. You can find the schedule of the special regional bicycle bus lines here.

Outside of the city center

Since April 2012, Integrated Public Transport System of the South Moravian Region (IDS JMK) have introduced a number of measures to allow cyclists to take their bikes on public transport while travelling the region.

IDS JMK equipped buses on 12 routes with trailers for the transportation of bicycles.

Trains were also upgraded; more bicycle compartments were included as part of wagon compositions and added to two new train connections that previously did not have this facility. New tariffs for bicycle transport on railways and buses were also introduced.

In 2017, majority of regional IDS JMK trains have facilities for transporting bicycles.
