Moravian Museum Features Special Exhibitions and Events for Its 200th Anniversary

All museum departments present a special anniversary series of exhibitions until September 10. On the occasion of museum birthday, every department shows best items from its itinerary.

The museum has more than 6 million items from various fields. Moravian museum is divided into three main units – Historical, Natural Science, and Art. They are further divided into more specialized departments – Music, Zoology, Botany etc.

The main buildings of the museum are located in the center of Brno.

The oldest museum part is Biskupský dvůr (Bishop’s Courtyard) located at Zelný trh.

Right next to Biskupský dvůr, there is the Dietrichstein Palace, a home for exhibitions of history of Moravia. There are many other places of Moravian Museum worth visiting, like the Palace of Noble Ladies or Anthropos Pavilion etc.

Museum birthday party – September 9

The main event of the 200th anniversary will take place at Zelný trh on September 9 from 13:00.
You can look forward to the presentations from all departments that will bring out their most sacred gems.

Entertainment will include a small archaeological site, a ceramic workshop, making of African masks, music-writing workshop, coin making, and a trial of theatrical costumes and props.
There will be contests and prizes from the Children’s Museum.

The highlight of the day will be the opening of two new exhibitions: “200 Years of Service of Moravian Science and Culture” and a permanent exhibition – “Central European Crossroads: Moravia in the 20th Century”.
