Brno, Sep 10 (BD) – In summer 2014, Brno municipality and Tourist Information Center of Brno (TIC Brno) introduced the English version of the official website for tourists GotoBrno.cz.
The result sparked a large wave of criticism because in the peak of the summer, the website was poorly translated and full of grammar and spelling mistakes. The officers at TIC Brno apparently used an electronic translator for creating the English version.
Three years after the first unfortunate release, Yana Janulíková, current director of TIC, announces a launch of the new and more sophisticated version of Brno’s tourism website. The new GotoBrno.cz is easier to navigate and more visually attractive.
The renewed website is more appealing and offers content that perfectly matches the tourists’ needs. On new GotoBrno.cz, people can easily find upcoming events or tips for eating out, as well as interesting cultural and historical sites. GotoBrno.cz offers a few practical guides in English, for instance one of the guides explains how to use public transport in the city.
The old website “contained long alphabetical lists of places, information of factual-historical character, lists of dead personalities and a prehistoric video of Brno,” Jan Řezáč, Czech expert on websites reminds.
The new tourist web has been receiving very positive feedback. “I like recommendations for other interesting places under each article. One has the impression that there is still something to discover there,” Filip Ekl, online marketing expert compliments the new web.
The modern look cost Brno 800 thousand Czech crowns.
