Brno, Sep 11 (BD) – Transportation changes in a nutshell: Complete reconstruction of deep infrastructure on Valchařská street has caused limited tram transportation. Crossroads “Stará dálnice” (III / 3844) and Kohoutovická – Žebětínská (III / 3842) will be managed by traffic lights. Five new tram stops are planned.
Valchařská street – tram line 4 operation limited
The reconstruction of entire Valchařská street, earlier announced by City’s official portal Brno.cz ,begins September 14, 2017.
The reconstruction is accompanied by several traffic restrictions. The following tram stops will be totally out of service: Obřany, Babická, Obřanský most, Malomeřický most, Cacovická and Tomkovo náměstí.
Since September 11, tram 4 will operate only between Náměstí Míru and Tomkovo náměstí (the stop towards the city center will serve for boarding and as a terminus).
Bus 57 will replace the connection to Obřany, sídliště. Bus 75 will serve the stop Obřanský most in both directions.

New traffic lights to prevent car accidents
On the crossroad “Stará dálnice” (III / 3844) and the Kohoutovická – Žebětínská (III / 3842) crossroad, traffic lights will be installed to prevent car accidents on this dangerous spot. In the upcoming days, we can await some necessary adjustments.
Starting this Monday, drivers have to count with temporary traffic limitations due to the installation of cables.
Further construction works and more significant traffic restrictions will start a week later, September 18.
Five new tram stops
In a few years, five new tram stops on frequently used streets will be installed. Municipality has approved an investment plan for several public transportation changes.
According to Brno newspaper, Brněnský deník, these adjustments will complete public transportation infrastructure.
Tram stop Semilasso will be reconstructed. Moravian Library (Moravská zemská knihovna) will have a new tram stop serving tram 12.
Unemployment office in Brno (Úřad práce) on Křenova should have a new tram stop of trams 8, 9, 10 right in front of the building.
Students and visitors of Faculty of Civic Engineering of Brno, University of Technology (Fakulta stavební, Vysoké učení technické v Brně) surely welcome an idea of cancellation of tram stop Rybkova in order to replace it by a new one, closer to the Faculty.
The investment plan has not been approved, yet.
New tram stop will be installed also near Sono Center. “Tram stop near Sono Center will serve mainly elderly people. Next year, a private company will build a new shopping center on this site. It is important that people do not have to drag heavy bags too far,” Pavel Tyralík, Mayor of Brno- Žabovřesky notes for Brněnský deník.
