Brno, Sep 19 (BD) – The annual Moravian Autumn Festival 2017 [Moravský podzim 2017] set of musical performances kicks off with the loudest song ever. Symphony of Factory Sirens will sound through Brno on Saturday, October 21. Visitors in the epicenter of the initial symphony at BVV Trade Fairs Brno will be given free earplugs!
The loudest song in the world
City siren system, firefighters, ambulances, police cars, artillerymen, Kometa hockey fans and steam locomotives will help to revive the Baku atmosphere of 1922.
Back then, the piece Symphony of Factory Sirens by Arseny Mikhailovich Avraamov involved navy ship sirens, whistles, factory sirens, cannons, the foghorns of the entire Soviet flotilla in the Caspian Sea, artillery guns, bus and car horns, machine guns, hydro-airplanes, and mass band and choir.
“Since the introduction of this unusual song, there have been several attempts to reproduce it. Nevertheless, our attempt is the most ambitious so far. The proof that we are speaking about an event of international significance is that Bavarian Radio will be recording the event,” Vítězslav Mikeš, dramaturgist of Brno Philharmonic Orchestra said to Brno news portal Brněnská drbna.
October Revolution
Symphony of Factory Sirens played on the fifth anniversary of 1917 October, the revolution is topical to the overall theme of Festival.
The concept of revolution and evolution will sound through Brno from October 6 until October 28. “We are interested in triggers that cause great social changes in music and culture,” Marie Kučerová, the Director of Brno Philharmonic noted for Brněnská drbna.
Hidden gems of festival
The festival features original works and performances. Many are brand new or very rarely performed. The day before the opening concert, 15 pianists will rotate for 28 hours at the Besední dům while performing 840 times the minimalist piece of Vexations by Erik Satie.
Festival visitors will also be able to listen to the futurist opera Victory over the Sun [Vítězství nad sluncem]. A single evening will try to bridge Bronius Kutavicius oratorio Last Pagan Rites with monumental Symphony No. 8, Op.54 Antiphons [Antifona] by Miloslav Kabeláč.
The spectators of Antiphons will move from the evangelical Red Church where they can listen to a pagan piece to Petrov Cathedral. Catholic church wasn’t not willing to host such performance.
