Brno, Sep 25 (BD) – If you want to change your home, check six parameters that this app evaluates and decide faster! 80 000 buildings in Brno are under the scrutiny of the new app.

Choose your new home wisely

An interactive map shows the best place for you according to your own preferences. Users can see an interactive map what crime, traffic noise or greenery level is in the locality. The app at Brno.ml allows you to set up your personal preferences for the ideal location.

Its author, a student of Mendel University who designed the app for his master thesis, takes into consideration that e.g. young couples have different housing preferences than students, and pensioners see the city from a different point of view as well. The best place for a user is marked with green and the worst with a red color in the app map.

Mendel University student, Mikuláš Muroň explains for Czech Television (Česká televize): “Let’s look at the Svitavy embankment, which one would say is a nice location. According to the preferences, we have set, we can see that there is a high level of noise. It is due to the fact that this locality is near the railway.”

“We work with six major categories, such as environment, services, relaxation, transport, safety and social status. These include 27 indicators according to which the levels are calculated, ” Mikuláš Muroň informed Czech Television.

Open data for all

“The project can help, for example, a person who wants to move to the city and does not know the location,” David Procházka, supervisor of the diploma thesis said. The app author used open data sources like public institution database and social networks.

The team behind the app desires to cover the entire Czech Republic and not only Brno in order to provide available data to all citizens.
