Brno, Sep 28 (BD) – On Wednesday, September 27, 2017, the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Italy opened at Zelný trh 13 in Brno.

Italy became the sixteenth country that has a diplomatic representation in the South Moravian metropolis.

Pavel Zezula (president of Nova Molisana a.s., a Marzotto textile company) was appointed as the Italian Honorary Consul at the beginning of this year.

Honorary Consul Zezula will work with the Italian Embassy in Prague and help Italian citizens with daily matters.

Italian Ambassador Aldo Amati said on the occasion: “We would also like to be present outside Prague. In fact, after the launching of a new air connection Ostrava-Bergamo, we will intensify our presence in Moravia,” Italian news agency (AGI) reported.

The goal of the new consulate is to develop cooperation and promote Italy in South Moravia, on the subject of design, music, film or gastronomy.

The consulate will also support industrial and commercial relations between Italian and Moravian companies.

“There will be numerous Italian enterprises interested in industrial collaborations, as well as musical, cinema and gastronomic events,” Amati added.

The South Moravian governor Bohumil Šimek was present at the opening.
