Brno’s Biojarmark is a traditional meeting of organic growers and breeders, wine producers and of course, which is the most important – visitors and customers. The event is organized every year since 1992.
The organizers came up with the idea of presenting organic farming because there weren’t possibilities to buy bio products in markets and people weren’t informed about their existence.
“The first few years of the event were mostly about informing and educating people about this topic and less about selling products,” Radka Matějíčková, the organizer of the event, says.
Since then, things have changed and even the organic food isn’t widely popular yet, at least people are informed and can buy anything organic they want in Brno.
Some of the Moravian quality goods that people can buy at the Biojarmark are vegetables, cow cheese, wine, grape juice, buckwheat, sausage, pates, tripe soup. You can enjoy all these while walking around and enjoying a cultural program.
“We want to diversify products that are sold at Zelný trh market for a few days with certified organic food.”
Whole families will attend and enjoy live music, fresh food and drinks, get some information on where to buy local and organic products in Brno and last but not least, buy these products and support local and organic producers.
The whole meeting will be accompanied with a cultural program which you can enjoy while meeting farmers and producers who will be happy to tell you more about their work so you will know exactly where the food comes from.
On Friday from 16:00 popular band OKno (actors from Husa na provazku theatre) will play.
From Friday to Saturday morning traditional folklore band will entertain the visitors.
The event will be held from 6th October (Friday) 9:00 to 7th October 2017 (Saturday) 14:00, at Brno, Zelný trh (upper part).
