Brno, Oct 13 (BD) – Public ticket inspectors in Brno were equipped by another 20 payment terminals by the Brno City Transport Company (DPMB), Czech regional television informed on its Facebook yesterday.
The first five devices have been tested since May 2016.
So far, every second person without a valid ticket paid to a ticket inspector outright, if he had had the terminal at his disposal.
Prague, Brno and Ostrava are cities with the most extensive urban transport systems, but also the largest number of fare dodgers.
In 2014 in Brno inspectors fined about 67.000 people while the whole Brno’s population counted around 400.000 people.
The fine for a journey without a valid transport document on Brno public transport is currently CZK 1,500. If the fine is paid outright or within 5 working days, the fine decreases to CZK 800.
