Brno will be the stage of the 12th edition of the biggest German-language film festival of the city – Das Filmfest Brünn [Film Festival Brno]!
The festival promises to take those who love a good comedy, thriller, suspense or romance to a different dimension
The Festival will exhibit the most recent and interesting German, Austrian and Swiss made films. But don’t be scared, the films have subtitles and most of them are English friendly!
“Das Filmfest will present to the audience a series of award-winning films and record-breaking films cinema attendance,” festival representative Lucie Čunderliková wrote in the official statement.
During the event, participants can watch films such as “Beat Beat Heart” (Germany, 2016), “Vor der Morgenröte” (Austria, 2016) and “Hell” (Switzerland, 2011).
The visitors will have the opportunity to know personally the film makers and get involved in very interesting discussions about the films.
The idea of a festival especially dedicated to German-language cinema is the result of cooperation between the Goethe-Institute Prague, Swiss Embassy and Austrian Cultural Forum in Prague with arthouses.
This edition celebrates the 90th anniversary of the German Expressionism with a silent film from 1927, Metropolis. The projection of the film will be accompanied by live music.
The Film Festival kicked off in 2006 and it is a good way to celebrate the cultural and linguistic differences among German-speaking countries.
