Brno, Oct 26 (BD) – The project for the modernization of the bus station, Zvonařka, was officially presented today. The renovation should be finished by the last quarter of 2019.
The idea behind the renovation of the station is to help it become more functional, beautiful and modern in a way that improves passengers’ impression of Brno, as the station works as a welcoming portal for more than 25.000 people per day to the city.
The design of the new station was conceived by the architecture studio Chybik + Kristof Architects & Urban Designers.
“I am very glad that one of the most sensitive places in the city of Brno will be enhanced, and I appreciate that the owner of this railway station decided to invest in this building as a private investor,” Brno Mayor Petr Vokřál said.

Beside refining the aesthetics of the station, there will be changes in the railway crossings for pedestrians and reformulations in the logical division of the traffic.
The process of modernization of Zvonařka will happen in three stages, and the company responsible for the project, ČSAD Brno, will submit the needed documentation to apply for European Community funds.

“We expect the implementation in three phases: we would like to finish the first stage, the modification of the underground and its lighting, in the autumn of next year, the next stage is the demolition of stands and the construction of a new check-in hall,” Antonín Grund, vice-chairman of the ČSAD Brno holding company said in the official statement.
