Brno, Oct 27 (BD) – The city is preparing a project called Brno Erasmus Student, which will involve foreign students that are studying in Brno and local students that leave for education to foreign countries.
The aim is to establish cooperation with an international and active student community, and to get feedback and specific proposals to improve the quality of life in Brno.
“The Statutory of City of Brno is interested in using the potential that students of Brno have, for feedback and for inspiration they bring from abroad. This is how the idea for the new project Brno Erasmus Student came, in cooperation with partners from the academic sector,” Deputy Mayor for Smart City, Jaroslav Kacer, writes in the official statement.
Every semester more students come to Brno within the Erasmus+ European project.
Local students, on the other hand, are leaving for studies abroad.
Erasmus+ (European Action Scheme for Mobility of University Students) is a European Union program supporting the international mobility of university students and cooperation in higher education in Europe.
The project will begin at the Brno Technical University (Vysoké učení technické v Brně, VUT) and then other universities in Brno will join. Pilot data collection will be carried out through questionnaires provided by the Department of Foreign Relations of VUT.
“We will collect data on the status of the city of Brno in the context of other foreign cities and collect interesting ideas of clever solutions from abroad, that can be transferred to our city,” Deputy Mayor Kacer, says.
The aim of the project is to involve university students in the city of Brno so it will be possible to make proposals and tips for city’s quality of life improvement.
The partial aim is to introduce Brno to students as a very lively and interesting location for their future study, work and life.
This project can be used as a tool to attract talent to the city, build a network of ambassadors and to connect foreign and local students.
The collected data will be separated, analyzed and evaluated by the university and municipality.
The city’s collaboration with the student community should be long-lasting and must include the comparison of previous results.
“Pilot testing will take place in the 2017 winter semester at the Brno Technical University and in the 2018 summer semester and at other universities in Brno,” Kacer adds.
Interest for cooperation has so far been shown by Masaryk University, Mendel University and the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The development and testing will also involve the South Moravian Innovation Center, the Tourist Information Center, the Brno Expat Center and other partners such as the Tourist Authority – South Moravia or the South Moravian Region.
