Brno, Nov 6 (BD) – Last Saturday afternoon, Brno’s Freedom Square was unusually packed. Hundreds of visitors were strolling around the main square and sharing laughs around the surrounding stalls. The reason was easy to detect – the variety of lavish sweet smells lingering in the air easily gave away the purpose of the gathering.

As a matter of fact, Brno was home to a festival of sweets with an equally sweet name – the first Sweet Dream Festival. The alluring name definitely brought citizens of Brno out of their homes and weekend slumbers, as there were queues as long as 30 people, all patiently waiting for their chance to try sweet cakes, pancakes and other available candy.

“The chocolate crepe from Palachinka stand was so good! It was totally worth the wait in the queue and the cold to get it!“ one of the visitors, Brno Daily asked, described her experience.

However, sweets were not the only category on sale. Among the various chocolate and candy delicacies, the visitors could also treat themselves with a fine cup of coffee – optionally flavored with melted chocolate – or a portion of sausages. There was even a stand with exclusively Greek food, where you could have had lunch as well as a tasty baklava.

Some stands were better visited than the others, but a few of them definitely stood out with their offers. La Donuteria Brno gave visitors the option to create donuts with their own design, Funky Donuts impressed with their donuts’ variety, MyRaw Food Brno offered a palette of raw sweets, and Nebeské dortíčky (Heavenly Cakes) presented their cupcakes and candy as a vegan-friendly option.

And what did the visitors have to say about this Sweet Dream experience? “We expected the event to be a little bigger, but it has definitely satisfied our sweet-tooth,” one of the attendees said. “The event was a really nice idea. The sweets, I ate were beyond tasty; but I think that the next time they could play music, too,” another visitor suggested.

The Saturday event was the first year of the Sweet Dream Festival in Brno and we can’t wait for the second one!
