Prague, Nov 14 (CTK) – Czech President Milos Zeman will pay a visit to the South Moravia Region in late November and he also plans to visit Slovakia before the end of the year, as is usual with Czech presidents at the end of their mandate, his spokesman Jiri Ovcacek told a press conference today.
In Slovakia, Zeman will meet his counterpart Andrej Kiska and Prime Minister Robert Fico.
The trip to South Moravia, another in a series of three-day visits Zeman has been paying to the country’s 14 self-rule regions, is scheduled for November 29-December 1.
Zeman is planning to meet citizens at rallies in four south Moravian towns, Ovcacek said.
“Later in December, the president will pay a visit to Slovakia. This is a tradition. The Czech president always visits Slovakia at the end of his mandate, either the first or the second one,” Ovcacek said.
Zeman, 73, won the country’s first direct presidential election in January 2013 and was inaugurated as president in March. His five-year tenure expires next March.
A new president will emerge from the January 2018 election, in which Zeman wants to run. He previously asserted that he would not conduct any election campaign, but critics object that his regular tours of Czech regions and interviews on a commercial TV actually amount to intensive campaigning.
