Brno, Dec 5 (BD) – Brno Deputy Mayor for Transport Matěj Hollan has proposed new parking prices in the historical center of the city. Prices would increase 100 percent. The proposal also introduces charging on nights, Sundays and public holidays, currently, times when drivers can park for free in the streets.

“We are going to make sure that visitors to Brno and those who commute daily, go to the parking garages and do not block the center of the city,” Hollan explained, according to daily Brnensky Denik.

If the Hollan’s price list is approved by the Brno Council, it will apply in the most difficult locations – in the streets around the railway station, náměstí Svobody, Nová a Stará radnice, and from Zelný trh to Moravské náměstí.

“The material of the price adjustment in the selected localities has not yet been submitted to the city authorities, I want to present it at the Council meeting on December 5,” Hollan said last Monday.

Pricing proposal: historical center of Brno

30 minutes – CZK 30 (now CZK 15)
1 hour – CZK 60 (now CZK 30), every other hour CZK 80 ( CZK 40)
3 hours – CZK 220 ( CZK 110)
9 hours – CZK 700 (CZK 350)
24 hours – CZK 1 450 ( CZK 590)

According to the new proposal, parking in the center will also be paid at night, from 10 pm to 7 am on weekdays, on Saturdays after 1 pm, and on Sundays and public holidays (now free of charge). One hour will cost CZK 30.
