Prague, Dec 18 (CTK) – Top Czech politicians will see their wages to rise by about 7 percent next year, an increase by one percentage point lower than in 2017, according to a press release issued by the Labour and Social Affairs Ministry.
Czech president’s gross monthly wage in 2018 will be 252,800 crowns, an increase by 16,100 crowns compared with his current wage.
A minister’s wage will be 144,700 crowns, the same as the wage of the deputy chairpersons of the two houses of parliament. They will rise by 9,200 crowns each.
The wage of the prime minister and the heads of the two houses of parliament will be 203,600 crowns, a 12,900-crown increase.
Heads of the parliamentary committees, commissions and delegations will see their wages rise by 6,700 crowns to 106,700.
The wage of a common deputy or senator will rise by 4,900 crowns to 75,900.
Together with wages, the monthly sum politicians receive as compensation for their travel, accommodation, catering, representation and other costs will increase as well as of January.
The president will receive the compensation worth 235,200 crowns, the heads of the lower and the upper house 40,800 crowns, and the prime minister and ministers will receive 26,000 and 21,100 crowns for this purpose, respectively.
Lawmakers, who receive 10,600 crowns in a monthly compensation for catering and representation now, will see the sum increase to 11,300 crowns, and they will be entitled to up to 42,200 crowns of a compensation for their travel costs, depending on their home town’s distance from Prague.
The growth of constitutional officials’ wages reflects the growth of the average wage in the non-business sector, from which politicians’ wages are derived.
