Brno, Dec 21 (BD) – The visitors to the Brno Observatory and Planetarium can look forward to seeing the stars in a three-dimensional universe, free WiFi in the Kraví hora park, or charging stations for electro-bikes in 2018. The City Council approved the budget last week.

The projection will be improved with resolution and colors comparable to what people know from top cinemas.

“The equipment we’ve been using in our ‘digitarium’ is old. The most important task is to replace it with new technology. We don’t know exactly what it will look like because we don’t know the supplier yet. We’ll contact the best in this field,” Observatory and Planetarium Brno director Jiří Dušek said, according to Brnensky Denik.

The modernization will also involve the surroundings of the observatory. “We would like to cover the planetarium’s surroundings with WiFi and install recharging stations for small technical devices. We are also considering a charging station for electro-bikes,” Dušek added.

The total cost of the renovation is CZK 47 million, with CZK 8 million is paid from the planetarium’s budget.

The first work at Kraví hora should begin next September and last one month.
