Moving abroad is not only about paperwork, public offices and moving vans. It is also about finding your place in the new home. Your old routine gets broken; your old favourite places are thousands of miles away. It is time to discover new ones, it is time to develop new habits, to meet new people and to carry on in the hobbies you do not want to give up on.

January is a good time to start with a new year and new beginnings. Brno is full of sports facilities, leisure time centres, and dance studios. The possibilities are here, the trick is to find them.

Brno Expat Centre has prepared a list of these places with many other suggestions in its “Sports and Leisure Activities” infosheet. Tennis and badminton courses, swimming pools, horse riding, climbing, fitness: the infosheet tells you where to start. Swing, Latino, classic dances — have a look to find regular or open classes. Hikes, ferry boats, an observatory, libraries, stand-up comedy or escape rooms: you can find suggestions for a weekend trip or an afternoon out with your friends.

The list is not exhaustive but it can provide you with enough information to start a new hobby, or to finally get to a tennis court or a swimming pool. Have a look at the infosheet here.

Don’t hesitate to contact Brno Expat Centre with suggestions to add to the list or to update it.
