Brno, Jan 13 (BD) – The 2018 Czech presidential election consists of a first round election Jan. 12-13 and a runoff election between the top two candidates Jan. 26-27.
The incumbent President Milos Zeman and former Science Academy chairman Jiri Drahos will take part in the runoff election in two weeks.
Results from the first round of the presidential election
Today at a press conference, Drahos thanked the voters who supported him and asked those who sought a change to take part in the runoff election.
Zeman, who avoided public debates, thanked his supporters and said he was ready to meet Drahos, his rival in the second round of the presidential election, in a TV debate before the runoff vote. “I congratulate Jiri Drahos on the nice second place,” Zeman added according to the Czech News Agency (ČTK).
