Brno, Jan 15 (BD) – 53 representatives voted in favor of the new “river location”; only one representative, Jana Drápalová (Zelení, Piráti), voted for the “under Petrov” location according to daily Brnensky denik. Three deputies abstained.
“At the railway station at the river, there are no public transport lines. It will be very time consuming for the passengers,” regional representative Drápalová said.
Martin Maleček (Starostové pro jižní Moravu) said that the project of the future railway station at the river is not so complicated in terms the feasibility.
“In addition, the existing transport hub can keep operating. If we choose the option under Petrov, rail transport in Brno would stop for up to six years. The trains would stop at the city’s outskirts, ” he said according to online daily iDnes.cz Brno.
“Brno needs the Railway Station,” South-Moravian governor Bohumil Šimek concluded.
The new location of Brno Central Railway Station has been a matter of a heated and long-lasting public debate in Brno.
