The attendance record was broken on Saturday, when 23,165 people had arrived, the city of Brno wrote in an official press release.

Brno, Feb 20 (BD) – Over 43,000 sports fans visited the Olympic Festival at Brno Exhibition Center last weekend. You can read more about the activities there in the earlier Brno Daily article “Brno Catches the Olympic Spirit, And You Can, Too”.

Speed-skater Karolina Erbanová’s winning a bronze medal on Sunday brought a great Olympic atmosphere to the exhibition centre’s Z-pavilion. “We are in the middle of the Olympics. With Erbanová’s, we now have six medals, and even if no other medals are brought home, it is a great result,” Czech Olympic Committee chairman Jiri Kejval said in the official press release.

On Monday afternoon, the first Czech winter Olympians to return home arrived at the exhibition centre to salute their fans.

The athletes, figure-skating pair Anna Dušková and Martin Bidař, returned from South Korea and arrived at the Olympic Festival in Brno on Monday.

The Olympic Festival in Brno offers a hockey rink and curling sheets. Visitors to the facilities in Pisárky have the possibility of trying snowboarding, downhill skiing, or speed skating. Visitors can bring their own skates or rent them at the site.
