Velvet Comedy returns to Naproti Absinthe Bar on Wednesday with another laugh-out-loud funny performer in English comedian Jack Holmes.
His performances, which you can sample on his YouTube channel, are not for the squeamish, as he delivers sharp criticism on all manner of people. Nobody is safe, particularly Holmes himself, who takes witty shots at himself for his inability with languages, appearance, odor, and subsequent popularity with the opposite sex.
“[My new routine] “Relentless” is a look into things that scare, annoy or just plain confuse me, a bizarre take on the seemingly normal things in life with a hilarious twist,” Holmes told Brno Daily recently.
On stage, this native of Bristol has a very calm demeanor and a style of delivery that slowly builds to the punchline. But the wait is worth it.
Now based in Graz, Holmes is a regular on the Vienna comedy scene and tours extensively in Europe.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be starting my month-long European tour in Brno. I have only ever had really fun crowds there so I can’t wait to finally bring my full show to town,” Holmes said.
Wednesday’s show will also feature an opening act by American comic Liz Donehue and will be presided over as always by Kristýna Haklová, both of whom were featured in a previous Brno Daily article.
Tickets for Wednesday’s show are available on GoOut, with any remaining tickets being available at the door on the night of the show. A link to tickets and more information are also available on this event’s Facebook page.
Naproti Absinthe Bar will open its doors for the show at 7pm on March 7, while the comics will begin taking the stage at 8 pm.
