Brno, Mar 8 (BD) – While in 2016 the Brno Transport Company (DPMB) had recorded a ratio of one accident for every 143 000 kilometers, last year the number decreased significantly.

“The number of kilometers to one accident increased by almost 25,000 in 2017,” DPMB spokeswoman Barbora Lukšová said.

Compared with 2016, the number of road accidents in 2017 was reduced by 19 cases. “When we compare data from 2017 and 2015, the numbers are even more striking – 112 fewer accidents,” Lukšová explained.

Of the total of 874 traffic accidents that occurred last year, minor traffic accidents made up a larger proportion of all cases.

Car drivers sometimes don’t remember who has priority on the roads. “Most of the accidents happen when car drivers do not respect the right of way when turning left, ” DPMB Operations Manager Jan Seitl explained in the official press release.
