Brno, Mar 11 (BD) – Dornych Street is scheduled to be closed for one year. The four decade-old plans to move the tram line from Dornych Street to Plotní Street (close to Brno’s Zvonařka bus station) will finally become reality.
The project Tramvaj Plotní will bring about the enlargement of Dornych Street and transfer the tram line to Plotní Street, closer to the bus station at Zvonařka.

“We are launching construction that will greatly influence traffic in the city of Brno for its duration. After its completion, however, it will significantly simplify getting to southern Brno for both cars and public transport. […] The accessibility of Zvonařka will be improved,” said Mayor of Brno Petr Vokřál in an official statement published by the City of Brno.
The tram line on Dornych has been operating since 1901. The last tram run on Dornych will be a special event. The Porsche 13T tram will be driven by the DPMB General Director Miloš Havránek and Mayor Petr Vokřál has promised to be present, according to the city’s official website.
The last tram departs from Zvonařka at 22:40.
