Brno, Mar 12 (BD) – Last week (March 5-11, 2018), the number of people with acute respiratory infections and influenza reached 2,247 patients per 100,000 inhabitants.
The week before, the Regional Hygienic Authority of South Moravia reported 2,048 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in their official press release.
The recommendation that health facilities declare a ban on visits remains in effect, Dr. Renata Ciupek from the Regional Hygienic Authority of South Moravia stressed on Friday, March 9.

The beginning of the flu epidemic was reported by health authorities in late January.
“This stronger outbreak of the flu was eased somewhat by the earlier spring break in South Moravian schools, which reduced the spread of diseases among children,” local daily Brněnská drbna quoted Czech News Agency (ČTK) last Saturday.
“After the holidays, the number of the sick has continued to rise and hygienic authorities advise hospitals and other facilities to ban visits,” Brněnská drbna explained.
