Brno, Mar 12 (BD) – Brno-střed Town Hall wants a faster implementation of a “Zone 30” to slow down traffic, as well as the designation of parking spaces, on Bratislavská Street. This will clearly define parking areas and ensure sufficient space for the safe passage of pedestrians.

Due to a serious traffic accident that happened on Bratislavská on February 9, 2018, Brno-střed Town Hall approved the request of the Transport Department of the City of Brno for immediate resolution of the situation.

“[…] local residents have earlier pointed out that they don’t feel safe on Bratislavská, that there are a lot of cars passing through this street that narrow their way, and that it is difficult to pass safely to the other side among a lot of parked cars and without pedestrian crossings,” Jasna Flamiková, 3rd Deputy Mayor of Brno-střed who is in charge of transport, described the situation.

Both of these measures, the “Zone 30” and the designation of parking places on Bratislavská, had already approved as part of a long-discussed project of residential parking in the city centre, Kateřina Dobešová, Public Relations Manager of Brno-střed explained in the press release.

“A serious traffic accident has unfortunately confirmed residents’ worries. We, therefore, call on colleagues from the Brno City Council to respond to our request,” Flamiková added.

“The goal of the new measures is to ensure significantly higher safety for pedestrians,” Dobešová added.
