How does life look like under the microscope? If you are in Brno from March 17 to 23, you can discover this during the Days of Electron Microscopy 2018 (Dny elektronové mikroskopie 2018). Photo: Pixabay

Feel like a scientist while exploring how everyday objects look when magnified up to a million times, with the help of real scientists who work in Brno’s multinational companies, scientific workplaces and universities.

At present, more than 30% of the world’s electron microscopy production is based in Brno through three companies: Thermo Fisher Scientific (formerly FEI), TESCAN, and Delong Instruments.

It’s been 67 years since the first Czech electron microscope was produced in Brno.

English speaker-friendly highlights during the week of Electron Microscopy in Brno

Marie Lungová from Brno Expat Centre specifically pointed out two English speaker-friendly events during this fascinating week of science.

The Days of Electron Microscopy 2018 will feature screenings of the film “Nanoflights – Making the Unseen Visible”, preceded by a presentation by a scientific photographer Stefan Diller.

The presentation and the screening will take place twice: March 19 at the Academy of Sciences (Královopolská 147), and March 20 at the Observatory (Kraví hora 522/2) from 10:30 to 11:15 am.

Entrance to the Days of Electron Microscopy 2018 is free of charge.
