Brno, March 21 (BD) – At this year’s Easter market, you will find 40 stalls with a wide range of products, music, singing, and an Easter surprise from Croatia.

This year’s spring festival will open on March 23 at 12:00 pm, with the participation of the Mayor of the City of Brno and the Ambassador of Croatia in the Czech Republic. The Ambassador will present a two-meter Easter egg.

Josip Gregurić, Đuro Jaković, Stjepan Pongrac, and Zlatko Štrfiček created this more than two-meter tall piece of pottery as part of the “Pisanica od srca” [loosely translated as “Easter egg from a hearth”] project. The large artisan egg has already been on display in Vienna, Koprivnica, and many other places. Last year, people were able to admire the egg in Berlin, Olomouc, and Lendava.

The Croatian National Board of Tourism launched the project in 2007. The Board hoped that “large Easter eggs [be] sent all over Croatia and the rest of the world as not only a recognizable note of everyday life and tradition of Podravina region, but also as a sign of friendship, love and joy of Easter,” explains Croatia week, the online portal that publishes news from Croatia in the English language.

An entertaining program awaits visitors every day until 7 pm. Traditional crafts workshops, folklore ensembles and dulcimer music from Brno and its surroundings will create the right traditional Easter atmosphere.

On the stands of this year’s retailers, there will be wicker goods, “pomlázka” [a braided whip], ceramics, jewelry, decorations, Easter eggs, wine, cheeses, “trdelník”, and many other goodies.
