Brno, Mar 22 (BD) – The delivery of new partial trolleybuses has recently arrived in Brno. They are low-floor vehicles equipped with air conditioning and allow for independent travel without making contact with overhead power lines. These are the first partial trolleybuses in the Brno Transport Company (DPMB) fleet.

Their batteries are charged up when the buses are powered by electricity from the overhead lines. The batteries allow them to run parts of their route in places without the use of the overhead power lines.

The new trolleybuses will be deployed mainly to the trolleybus lines that are undergoing construction and would otherwise require a temporary replacement bus service. “The soonest opportunity for using the partial trolleybuses will be on line 32 on Chodská Street,” DPMB spokeswoman Barbora Doležalová announced this Tuesday.

“The Brno trolleybus network is one of the largest in the Czech Republic. Its total length
exceeds 54 kilometers. Thirteen trolleybus lines are operated daily with more than 100 vehicles,” Doležalová explained.

The first trolleybuses started running in Brno’s streets in 1949.
