Brno, Mar 29 (BD) – While in some Czech towns the fees are the same for the entire municipality, in Brno it varies according to the permanent address of the owner. Brno is divided into 29 city districts, and each of them sets their dog registration fees independently.
For example, in Brno-střed (Brno-Center district) and in MČ Brno-Řečkovice a Mokrá Hora, there is a fee of CZK 1,500, and there is one registered dog for every twenty-four people. In Jehnice, according to a document available on its website, the current fee for one dog is CZK 300 and the ratio is one dog for every seven inhabitants, Czech local daily Brněnský deník wrote.
Local fees in Brno are, however, much more complicated. The fees can differ depending on where the owner lives.
Registration fees for dogs are paid for every dog older than 3 months. The dog’s owner should have a permanent residence, or provide the address of a company, which owns the dog, that is located in one of the city’s districts. The dog owner is obliged to register the dog within 15 days of its acquisition. The deadline for payment is March 31 every year.
If you keep a dog in an apartment in Prague, you will pay the same fee as in some districts in Brno; 1,500 CZK per year. If you keep more than one dog, you must pay CZK 2,250 for each additional dog per year.
Legally, the fee cannot exceed 1,500 CZK per the calendar year for the owner’s first dog.

If the dog passes away, the owner is obliged to inform the authorities.
If someone does not pay in time or doesn’t register his dog at all, police can increase the fee up to three times, Brněnský deník quoted Brno Municipal Police.
