Visitors of the festival will have the opportunity to learn about Polish literature, history, music, film, and gastronomy from April 4 to April 30.
The program of Days of Polish Culture in Brno includes an exhibition of photographs of the Czech-Polish borderlands on display at Náměstí Svobody, an exhibition about the Poles’ journey towards the Greater Poland uprising of 1918-1919, and an exhibition about Polish politician Jozef Piłsudsky and the recovery of Poland’s independence in 1918. For lovers of film, Kino Art screening “Kocham Film“ (“I love film”), a series of new Polish films.
Brno and the Czech Republic will be presented in a similar way in the sister city Poznan in autumn of 2018 when Days of Czech Culture takes place there.
The Partnership Agreement between Brno and Poznan was signed in September 1966, covering the areas of culture, tourism and the economy. Later, in 1989, it was extended to the area of economics and the exchange of experts, mainly university staff.
This festival was organized by Jiří Mahen Library in Brno and the Marketing and Foreign Relations Office of the City of Brno, and is partially financed by the Czech-Polish Forum of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the independence of the republics and to serve as a reminder of important moments from the history of both countries.
